What to do if the WiFi thermostat cannot connect to the Internet after changing the router?

After changing the router, the WiFi thermostat is usually unable to connect to the network because the network configuration information does not match. You need to reconnect the thermostat to the new Wi-Fi network. Here are some steps you can try:

1. Check the basics:

Confirm that the new router is working properly: Make sure your phone, computer, and other devices can connect to the new WiFi network and access the Internet.

Check the thermostat power supply: Make sure the thermostat is properly connected to the power supply and turned on.

Get close to the router: Move the thermostat as close to the router as possible to eliminate the possibility that the signal is weak and the connection cannot be made.

2. Reset the thermostat's WiFi connection:

Most WiFi thermostats have the function of resetting the network connection. The specific operation method may vary depending on the brand and model, and usually includes the following:

Press and hold one or more buttons: Read the user manual of the thermostat carefully to find the specific button combination and pressing time to reset the WiFi connection. It usually takes a few seconds until a prompt indicating WiFi reset or pairing mode appears on the screen.

Enter the settings menu to reset: Some thermostats require finding "Network Settings", "WiFi Settings", or similar options in the settings menu on their screen, and then selecting "Reset WiFi" or "Forget Network", etc.

3. Reconnect to WiFi:

After resetting your thermostat's WiFi connection, you'll need to follow these steps to connect it to your new WiFi network:

Enter pairing mode: After resetting, your thermostat will usually automatically enter WiFi pairing mode. You may see a message on the screen saying it's searching for a network or waiting to connect.

Connect using a mobile app: This is the most common way.

Open the official app for your thermostat brand.

Follow the instructions in the app to add a new device or connect to Wi-Fi.

The app will usually ask you to enter the name (SSID) and password of your new Wi-Fi network. Be sure to enter them accurately.

Follow the instructions in the app to complete the connection process.

Connect through the thermostat screen: Some thermostats let you connect to a Wi-Fi network by selecting the network and entering the password directly on the screen. Check your owner's manual for specific steps.

Our WiFi thermostats are mainly with Beok Home App and Tuya App control, there are many models for option:

4. Check your router settings:

If none of the above steps fix the problem, you may need to check your new router settings:

WiFi name and password: Make sure the Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password you enter on the thermostat app or device are exactly the same as the new router settings, and are case sensitive.

WiFi Band: Our thermostats only support 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. Make sure your new router has 2.4GHz turned on and that the thermostat is connected to a network on that band. Some routers combine 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, and you need to make sure the thermostat can recognize and connect correctly.

MAC Address Filtering: If your router has MAC address filtering enabled, you need to add the thermostat's MAC address to the list of allowed connections. You can find the device's MAC address in the thermostat's user manual or app.

Firewall Settings: Check your router firewall settings to make sure that the ports needed for the thermostat to connect to the Internet are not blocked. This is usually not necessary, but you can try to check it if you encounter special circumstances.

5. Restart Devices:

Try restarting your thermostat and router. Wait a few minutes before trying to reconnect.

6. Contact Customer Service:

If you have tried all of the above and still cannot connect, we recommend that you contact customer service for technical support.

To summarize, the key steps to solve the problem of the WiFi thermostat not being able to connect to the Internet after changing the router are: reset the thermostat's WiFi connection, then reconnect to the new router using the correct Wi-Fi name and password. At the same time, check for possible restrictions in the router settings.
